Privacy Policy

Angel Numbers is a local-first iOS app with no account or login. This policy explains exactly what the app collects, the anonymous identifier we use, the third parties that process data on our behalf, and how the permission-based features (location, photos, notifications) and subscriptions work.

No account, no login

Angel Numbers does not have user accounts. You never create a profile, sign in, or give us your name, email, or phone number to use the app. We do not ask for and do not collect any directly-identifying personal information.

The anonymous identifier

On first launch, the app generates a random anonymous identifier (a UUID) on your device. It is not derived from your name, email, Apple ID, advertising identifier, or any other personal information. It is stored on your device (in app storage and the iOS Keychain) and is used only to keep our analytics and subscription records consistent — for example, so a purchase made on your device is recognized as the same anonymous user across our analytics and subscription tools.

Because there is no account, this identifier is the only handle we have. Deleting and reinstalling the app may reset it (the Keychain copy can persist across reinstalls on the same device).

What we collect

  • Anonymous identifier — the app-generated UUID described above. It is attached to analytics events and to subscription records so they can be reconciled, with no link back to your real-world identity.
  • Product analytics events — when an event occurs in the app (for example: app opened, a number saved, a sighting logged, a wish submitted, a paywall shown, or a subscription started) we record the event name and a small amount of app-specific context (such as which angel number string was saved or which subscription plan was chosen). These events are sent to PostHog along with the anonymous identifier and standard device/app metadata (device model, OS version, app version) that the analytics SDK collects automatically.
  • Subscription and purchase data — when you start a free trial or buy a subscription, the purchase is processed by Apple and reconciled through RevenueCat and Superwall so the app knows whether your premium entitlement is active. We receive transaction and entitlement status, not your full payment card details (Apple handles billing).
  • On-device sighting content — saved angel numbers, sighting history, timestamps, checkpoint/streak progress, optional notes/wishes, optional photos, and optional location for a sighting. This content is stored on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.
  • Notification preferences — if you enable reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device based on your settings.

Location and photos stay on your device

If you grant location access, the app uses your location only at the moment you log a sighting, to attach a place (an approximate street or area label and coordinate) to that sighting. If you grant camera or photo access, photos you attach to a sighting are saved on your device.

Your location data and your sighting photos are stored locally in the app's storage and are not sent to us, to PostHog, or to any other third party. They are not included in analytics events. You can decline these permissions and still use the rest of the app.

Third parties we use

We use a small number of reputable service providers to run the app. They process data on our behalf according to their own privacy policies:

  • Apple — operates the App Store, processes your subscription payments, and provides the system services (notifications, location, photos) the app relies on. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • PostHog — product analytics. Receives the anonymous identifier and the app event data described above. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.
  • RevenueCat — manages subscription state and entitlements. Receives the anonymous identifier and Apple transaction/entitlement data. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
  • Superwall — manages and displays the in-app paywall and subscription flow. Receives the anonymous identifier and paywall interaction data. See Superwall's Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your personal information.

How we use information

  • To run the core experience: generate readings and show your saved numbers, sightings, trends, widgets, and reminders.
  • To understand how the app is used and improve reliability, design, and features (analytics).
  • To process subscriptions and keep your premium entitlement in sync with your purchase.
  • To send the local notifications you ask us to send.

Data retention

On-device content (saved numbers, sightings, photos, location labels, notes) remains on your device until you delete it in the app or delete the app. Analytics events held by PostHog and subscription records held by RevenueCat, Superwall, and Apple are retained according to those providers' retention practices and our configured settings. Because these records are keyed only to an anonymous identifier, they are not tied to your real-world identity.

Your choices and rights

  • Decline location, camera/photo, or notification permissions in iOS Settings at any time and keep using the app.
  • Delete individual sightings, photos, or numbers inside the app, or delete the app to remove all on-device data from your device.
  • Manage or cancel subscriptions in the App Store (Settings → your name → Subscriptions).
  • Contact us to ask about, or request deletion of, the analytics/subscription data associated with your anonymous identifier. Because we have no account or contact details for you, you may need to share your anonymous identifier so we can locate the records.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@angelnumbers.app.

Children

Angel Numbers is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app changes. The latest version will always be posted here with a new effective date.
